Binance announced on Wednesday that it will pilot a new NFT ticketing solution in collaboration with Italian football team, S.S. Lazio, for the upcoming 2022/23 season.

Fans will be able to enter the Stadio Olimpico with the NFT ticket developed by Binance. The tickets also give holders access to exclusive benefits such as store and match discounts, token giveaways and other unique experiences.

In addition to verifying ticket authenticity, Binance said that the aim of this new NFT ticketing solution is to prevent ticket counterfeiting, scalping and ticket misuse, as well as make ticketing systems more reliable. In this partnership, fans will be able to claim their NFT tickets for free via official Lazio stores, social media and on the Binance Fan Token Platform.

“Our team is working closely with Binance to provide the greatest value to all of our fans. It is with great pleasure to reward all S.S. Lazio fans, who claim their NFT digital tickets with their season tickets purchases. Our fans who explore this new technology will enjoy discounts for Europa League matches and online merchandise purchases,” said Marco Canigiani, Marketing Director of Lazio.

The tickets will be available for all of S. S. Lazio’s home matches. To enjoy all the benefits of the tickets, users have to complete identity verification and via the Binance app or website.

“NFT ticketing, which we are introducing with S.S. Lazio introduces a brand new layer of utility features to non-fungible tokens. Lazio will revolutionize the ticketing market and presents another significant real-life use case for Web3 technology,” said Zoe Wei, Binance Fan Token Lead.

This new digital ticketing solution is an extension of Binance’s partnership with Lazio. Both parties entered into a two-year jersey sponsorship deal last October. In the same month, Binance introduced the Lazio Fan Token sale on its launchpad.

Binance is not the only platform to issue NFT tickets. Afterparty launched the world’s first NFT-gated art and music festival held physically in Las Vegas and raised $4 million in unsolicited funding in April.

Another platform, the Amsterdam-based NFT ticketing solution, GET Protocol, provides an infrastructure with blockchain and NFT integration to ticketing platforms. Every NFT ticket is issued on-chain with clear, verifiable data which can be checked using the GET explorer.
