Ubisoft has announced a partnership with Animoca Brands to bring Champions Tactics™ Grimoria Chronicles to Mocaverse. Mocaverse will integrate Ubisoft’s brand new player-versus-player (PvP) tactical roleplaying game (RPG) into its Web3 Frequent Player Program.

The integration is part of a collaboration between Ubisoft and Animoca Brands to advance the video game maker’s Web3 initiatives through the Ubisoft Innovation Lab.

In Champions Tactics™ Grimoria Chronicles, mythical champions battle against other players and discover the legends of the dark and mystical world of Grimoria. Ubisoft and Animoca Brands will bring this experience to Mocaverse, the Web3 investment company’s NFT-powered community featuring its network of 400+ portfolio companies and extended partner network.

Mocaverse focuses on decentralised IDs, social and growth in areas of culture and entertainment. In August 2023, Animoca Brands announced a partnership with CyberConnect to build a decentralised social layer on Mocaverse, enabling Mocaverse ID holders to create interoperable social gaming experiences for their communities.

Commenting on the partnership, Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands said: “Animoca Brands is dedicated to onboarding users to Web3 through gaming, culture, and entertainment. We’re incredibly excited to partner with Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab to drive awareness and facilitate user onboarding by tapping into the Mocaverse program and incentives.”

Nicolas Pouard, VP of Strategic Innovation Lab at Ubisoft commented: “We have been following Animoca Brands for a while now, and it is a pleasure for us to take part and support its consumer-facing execution by joining the Mocaverse program from the first season.”

This is not the first time Animoca Brands and Ubisoft’s goals are aligned for a blockchain gaming project. In 2022, the two companies together with Polygon joined a $12 million seed round for the blockchain game “Cross the Ages” (CTA), a free-to-play game that features digital trading cards as non-fungible tokens (NFT).
