Quick take:

  • PancakeSwap has launched an integrated marketplace for Web3 Games.
  • It will allow developers to build, publish, and update games on the platform.
  • The platform already features two games “Pancake Protectors” launched in May 2023, and the new “Pancake Mayor”.

PancakeSwap is expanding its digital asset strategy with an integrated marketplace for Web3 games. The decentralised exchange platform will allow developers to build, publish, and update games on the new marketplace.

According to the announcement, the platform already features “Pancake Protectors”, an interactive, tower-defense-inspired game built by PancakeSwap in collaboration with Web3 gaming platform Mobox. Since its launch in May 2023, “Pancake Protector” registered peak daily players of 25,000.

Another game available during the launch of PancakeSwap gaming marketplace is the newly built “Pancake Mayor”, a casual city-building game, the DEX platform announced on Tuesday.

This announcement comes at a time when the buzz around blockchain games appears to be cooling off. However, major players in the industry seem to be focusing more on building technologies capable of accommodating massive user bases.

Immutable has already teamed with Polygon to roll out Immutable zkEVM, which offers scalability and a high level of security, allowing mainstream gaming companies to integrate Web3 elements in their AAA titles.

Last week, Paris-based video game publisher Ubisoft announced a partnership with Immutable to build new blockchain gaming experiences through its Strategic Innovation Lab.

PancakeSwap wants to take advantage of its multi-chain ecosystem and build a gaming community that could reach up to 1.5 million users, the company said in a post on X.

The DEX platform currently features nine blockchains including BNB Chain, Ethereum, Aptos, Polygon zkEVM, zkSync Era, Arbitrum One, Linea, Base, and opBNB. Developers from any of the supported blockchains will be able to build and release games on its new marketplace.
