The International Olympic Committee unveiled Olympic Games Jam: Beijing 2022, its officially licensed play-to-earn game yesterday. The launch of the game came a day before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 today.

Jointly developed by the International Olympic Committee and nWay, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, the play-to-earn game features various arcade-styled winter sports where players can earn Olympic NFT digital pins.

Dozens of players can compete with each other in a series of randomised winter Olympic events such as snowboarding, skiing and more until a gold medal winner emerges. The in-game characters are fully customisable.

To access exclusive character skins and higher tiers of play, gamers will have to use the Olympic NFT digital pins. The pins will also provide players in-game utility such as higher speed, tighter controls and stronger resistance to hazards for their characters.

Players can earn the NFT digital pins in three ways: Playing the game, purchasing assorted boxes on nWayPlay.com, and purchasing pins directly from other collectors on nWayPlay marketplace.

“The Olympic Games are the world’s largest sport celebration. We can’t think of a better genre than party games to get everyone across different gaming skills involved for this global celebration in a massive way,” said Taehoon Kim, CEO of nWay. “nWay has a track record of creating high-quality multiplayer games, and making Olympic Games Jam: Beijing 2022 a play-to-earn title is going to let gamers and NFT collectors alike to not only engage with the Olympic Games, but also own a piece of Olympic history. We intend to support the game with continuous updates in the months to come, to keep the players engaged, and the Olympic spirit ongoing.”

Olympic Games Jam: Beijing 2022 is free to download on Android and iOS. The app will receive regular post-launch software updates featuring new content, sports, modes, and events to keep the competition fresh and engaging.
