Quick take:

  • Binance and Polygon have invested in AlterVerse’s metaverse game Sky City.
  • The investment comes at the back of the blockchain game developer’s inclusion in Binance’s incubator program.
  • AlterVerse is now ready to launch a preview of Sky City to the world.

AlterVerse has received an investment from Binance Labs and Polygon Ventures. The blockchain game developer said it is now ready to launch a preview of its metaverse game Sky City. The fundraising also received backing from Ankr, Baselayer Capital, and EnjinStarter.

AlterVerse’s fundraising comes hot on the heels of completing the Binance Incubation Program.

Funds from the yet-to-be-completed private round will be used to expand the AletrVerse ecosystem and accelerate the roadmap. AlterVerse said it is still in discussion with other high-profile funds to back its aggressive gaming strategy.

“AlterVerse is a beautiful amalgamation of real-world experiences and high-end gaming in the metaverse. The vision and scale of the project is impressive, and what has already been developed is stunning. I look forward to continuing to support the AlterVerse team on this journey,” Shashwat Gupta, Co-Founder of Baselayer Capital and CEO & Founder of Altcoin Buzz commented.

AlterVerse is developing an interconnected gaming experience that will feature interconnected gaming worlds, games, and communities. The game will also be built using Epic Games’ next-generation gaming software Unreal Engine 5.

Sky City is only the first of a phased gaming experience that will also feature Outpost, Rekt, and City Servers. Players will be able to carry assets from one phase to the next, all the way to City Servers.

The gaming mechanism sounds very similar to what Illuvium Co-Founder, Kieran Warwick shared during the Token2049 event in Singapore.

Illuvium is another blockchain gaming developer looking to usher in the next generation of web3 gaming. The company’s interconnected web3 game will allow users to carry their assets to the next game in a linked gaming experience powered by the $ILV token.

Just like Illuvium, AlterVerse’s interconnected game will be powered by its native token $ACE, which will be used for in-game transactions, currency, and player rewards. The token will be launched on the BNB Chain alongside metaverse land and NFT skins, AlterVerse company wrote in a blog post on Medium.

The company plans to enrich its gaming platform with an NFT marketplace that can be integrated with multiple blockchains including Polygon, BNB Smart Chain, and Effinity, among others.

Sam Stebbins, Alterverse Advisor and CEO of Space Misfits commented: “AlterVerse is bringing AAA quality gaming, combined with a metaverse that is nothing short of beautiful.”
