Quick take:

  • The collaboration will help it easier for developers to deploy games across multiple chains.
  • Rarible offers a multichain Web3 infrastructure platform that supports NFTs across multiple blockchains.
  • SphereOne provides a Web3 identity solution and wallet that allows users to switch from one blockchain to another without switching accounts.

SphereOne has announced a collaboration with Rarible for Web3 gaming and crypto payments initiatives. The two companies want to create a solution that enables game developers to deploy games across multiple blockchains.

SphereOne will leverage Rarible’s multichain NFT infrastructure platform to power multichain blockchain games. The company will also utilise its Web3 identity solution and wallet infrastructure that allows users to switch from one blockchain network to another without switching accounts to make it easier for users to move from one blockchain game to another.

According to the announcement, SphereOne and Rarible want to help convert new blockchain gamers into regular players amid an “abysmal” conversion pipeline in the industry.

Commenting on the collaboration, Chris Ries, cofounder of SphereOne, said in a statement, “SphereOne is proud to join forces with Rarible in this exciting endeavour. By combining our crypto payment solutions with Rarible’s Protocol, we aim to unlock a new era of innovation and growth in the web3 gaming space.”

The “abysmal” conversion pipeline makes it hard for people to make it far enough in their user journey to play the game — much less, make a purchase, SphereOne said.

The company attributes the poor conversion rates to the complexity of Web3 tooling, which they want to address by opening up a world where Web3 infrastructure is completely invisible for complex multichain deployments.

This collaboration will allow games to log in and play any games with an email address. Those playing blockchain games can buy in-game assets and NFTs using any token balances they hold in for blockchain games they play.

Alexei Falin, the CEO of Rarible, said in a statement, “Through our partnership with SphereOne, Rarible is charting the future of web3 gaming. Our collaboration leverages SphereOne’s seamless payment tech with Rarible’s NFT protocol, enhancing the gaming experience with improved accessibility and asset interoperability. We’re excited to push the boundaries together and deliver tangible innovations to the web3 space.”
