Sportswear giant Adidas is taking yet another step into the metaverse as it is launching the world’s first personality-based AI-generated avatar creation platform, in collaboration with Ready Player Me.

The platform will be launched on Apr 8 to celebrate the arrival of Adidas’ latest Ozworld collection of sneakers. The online Ozworld experience on the platform allows users to create their own unique avatars which can be taken across the Internet via Ready Player Me – a cross-app avatar platform for the metaverse that enables users to explore different virtual worlds with one consistent identity.

Through the exclusive partnership with Ready Player Me, each avatar will be able to traverse across 1500 different metaverse apps and games.

Adidas states that “the Ozworld collection boldly represents a platform for style experimentation and a rallying call for the pursuit of personal expression” and so the accompanying web experience will highlight the essence of users’ individual personalities rather than physical appearances.

When creating the avatar, users will be prompted to answer a series of questions for the platform to learn more about who they are. The answers will then be translated to a digital avatar that takes aesthetic information from the visual codes of the Ozworld sneaker collection.

After generating their avatars, users can experiment with animation as well as digitally try on or purchase sneakers from the Ozworld collection. Users will also be able to download their avatars into stickers and GIFs to be used on social media.

Metaverse avatar platform Ready Player Me secured $13 million in December and has been used by more than 1750 partner brands and developers including high-street fashion brand Pull & Bear, Nike’s RTFKT, VR world Somnium Space and sci-fi blockbuster film, Dune.

This collaboration is the latest metaverse project by Adidas following the success of its first NFT project Into The Metaverse (ITM). Holders of ITM NFTs as well as adiClub members will be granted early access to the online Ozworld experience via a unique URL. The first instalment of avatars will arrive on Apr 28.
