Web3 Streaming Platform Myco Taps The Bridge to Ramp Up Asia Expansion

Myco has announced a partnership with The Bridge to accelerate its Asia expansion. The web3 video streaming and distribution platform is capitalising on the burgeoning “watch-to-earn” segment of the crypto industry, amid the rapid adoption of play-to-earn and play-and-earn in the web3 gaming category.

The deal was signed by Myco Chief Content Officer Phil McKenzie and The Bridge CEO Amanda Groom according to Deadline.

It also comes at a time when Myco is eyeing the Asian market for expansion. Asia, especially South East Asia, South Korea and Japan, have been spearheading the adoption of web3 and tokenomics in mainstream services.

Asia is also one of the leading film and TV markets a huge portfolio of anime titles adopted from gaming franchises. The Bridge has swooped in via c-production partnerships with companies from China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore to develop international TV and film content.

Commenting on the partnership, Amanda Groom CEO of The Bridge said: “Myco’s significant investment into the development of Asian content reveals the company’s commitment to the role of The Bridge in developing content across all Asia and in stimulating the two-way flow of content from and to Asia to the international market.”

According to Groom, the partnership is set to make a huge impact on “the growth of creativity across the whole of the Asian region.”

As one of the leading markets for web3 adoption, Asia presents an exciting opportunity for the “watch-to-earn” industry. Including India and China, the content accounts for more than half of the global population, with an internet penetration rate of 67.4% as of 2022 according to Statista.

Phil McKenzie Myco’s CCO said the partnership will play a crucial role in his company’s bid to create content and onboard more viewers in the region.

“We look forward to uncovering and empowering SE Asian stories and creators through our web3 content ecosystem and distributing the finished productions using our innovative watch2earn platform.”
