Quick Take:

  • Binance.US is buying office space in Solana’s Portals.
  • Another crypto exchange platform FTX’s US subsidiary has also bought space in the metaverse platform.
  • Portals head of community and partnerships, Chris Lund said Binance wants to deliver news, charts and events through the virtual platform.

Binance’s US subsidiary, Binance.US is building an office space in Solana’s Portals platform. Portals is a metaverse-based platform that has become the preferred option by cryptocurrency companies looking to open a new base in the metaverse.

The platform reimagines a fully-developed urban environment, allowing users to explore virtual architectures and interactive rooms.

According to Portals’ head of community and partnerships, Binance.US wants to use its newly purchased virtual office to offer its users the latest news, charts, and events.

“Binance.US is getting a space in Portals Downtown with a focus on delivering the latest news, charts, and events virtually,” Lund told Coindesk.

Joining Binance.US also is FTX.US, the US subsidiary of the Bahrain-based crypto exchange platform FTX, he added.

Although several companies buying digital space have focused on the Ethereum-based Decentraland and The Sandbox, Portals seems to be gaining traction due to Solana’s high-speed platform.

Binance.US spokesperson Zachary Tindall said the goal for purchasing the digital space is to allow its community to engage with one another in the metaverse.

“It’s the first of many steps we’re taking to be forward-looking as we build and reach our community in new environments,” Coindesk reported, citing an e-mail from Tindal.

Solana’s Raydium, Magic Eden, Audius, Bonfida have also secured their Spaces in Portals. Magic Eden teased its followers on Twitter, offering them a choice of two pilot versions of its Office in Spaces to choose from.

The metaverse is not just a focal point for corporate entities. Last week, the Turkish political entity DEVA party became the country’s first-ever political institution to launch an office in the metaverse.

The Binance.US, FTX.US and the Solana-based projects joining the metaverse via Portals follow a string of giant global brands that have already taken the first steps.

They Include Samsung Electronics, which also recently introduced an NFT aggregation marketplace in its latest rollout of Smart TVs, Nike, Facebook (now Meta Platforms), Hyundai and many more.
