GAM3 Awards the global blockchain gaming event held to recognise excellence in the industry is returning for its second year. Winners of this year’s event will stand to win $2 million worth of monetary prizes and services, which is double the amount shared during last year’s event.
GAM3 Awards rewards web3 gaming projects for the innovation and progress made over the preceding 12 months. This year’s event is sponsored by some of the leading players in the industry, including Magic Eden, Blockchain Game Alliance, Amazon and Google, which in July changed its Play Store policy to allow the listing of blockchain-based games.
The event will be presented by the web gaming platform GAM3S.GG in collaboration with Magic Eden.
Although the event comes during a bear market, organisers expect it to be fiercer than last year’s with new game titles set to showcase their innovation and creativity alongside last year’s winners including Game of the Year winner – Big Time, which recently successfully launched their preseason & game economy; and Shrapnel, which won Most Anticipated Game and is now preparing for its highly anticipated public playtest.
This year’s event adds three more categories including Best Fighting Game, Best Sports Game, and Best On-Chain Game to last year’s 16, which saw over 100 games nominated.
Just like last year, games will be evaluated on various criteria, including core loop, accessibility, replayability factor, fun elements, graphics, and overall gameplay experience. Therefore, apart from the “Most Anticipated Game” and “People’s Choice” awards, only games with live playable versions will be nominated for the awards.
The organisers are also beefing up this year’s event with more jurors from web3 gaming VCs, chains and ecosystems, infrastructure partners and content creators, with leaders from tech giants Amazon and Google also joining the jury.
Nominations for the awards started today October 26 on the GAM3S.GG platform and will run until the shortlist is announced ahead of the final voting.
