The United Arab Emirates continues to charge forward with its adoption of Web3. On Thursday’s Sharjah-based cultural hub House of Wisdom said it will hold its first non-fungible token (NFT) art exhibition in the metaverse from March 1 to April 15.

The event dubbed, the “Gateway to the Metaverse” will feature 60 international artists as well as 15 UAE artists, covering several themes.

The organisers of the event have also booked the Al Khawarizimi Exhibition area to host the physical version of the event showcasing digital art, crypto art, musical renditions and performance art across 24 screens.

The event will also include a two-day seminar that will deliberate on emerging technologies in art whale introducing the participants to emerging trends for artistic expressions and modern practices.

The House of Wisdom will also facilitate a workshop that will introduce artists to the world of crypto art, including showing them how to make money with NFTs.

The exhibition is curated by Stefano Favaretto, co-founder of Global Art Exhibition in collaboration with Morrow collective, an NFT platform based in the UAE.

The UAE’s journey in the world of non-fungible tokens is gaining steam, with the metaverse exhibition coming hot on the heels of another NFT art exhibition by Dubai Culture held at Al Safa Art & Design Library last month to commemorate UAE’s Golden Jubilee. Morrow Collective also helped in curating the exhibition.

The middle-eastern country also became the first nation to launch a metaverse-based customer service, with its health ministry launching MetaHealth in January. The event was flagged off by several Web3 companies.

Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia also showed that it is not getting left behind in the leap to Web3, raising $6.4 billion in a 3-day technology conference dubbed Leap. As part of the fundraising, Neom Tech & Digital, contributed $1 billion, also launching a cognitive metaverse project, called XVRS.
