OneFootball Labs Appoints Electronic Arts Veteran Jean-Charles Gaudechon as CEO

Global football media platform, OneFootball, has appointed longtime Electronic Arts veteran, Jean-Charles Gaudechon as the CEO of OneFootball Labs, a new joint venture launched in partnership with Animoca Brands.

The venture was announced in April when OneFootball raised $300 million in Series D led by Liberty City Ventures. OneFootball Labs was formed to enable clubs, leagues, federations and players to release digital assets and fan-centric experiences based on blockchain technology. Following the announcement, Yat Siu, the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, joined the boards of both OneFootball and OneFootball Labs.

Animoca Brands will bring its deep expertise and network in blockchain, NFTs, gaming and the metaverse to assist OneFootball to create new products and services that will amplify digital fandom and create new revenue streams for the football industry.

One of the value propositions of OneFootball Labs is the accessibility and affordability of its upcoming Web3 products that e offered at different price points to make them widely accessible. Fans will also be able to purchase and store digital collectibles with just their email and a credit card.

In his new role, Gaudechon will be responsible for growing OneFootball Labs and creating Web3 products for football fans that will drive mass adoption of blockchain technology in football.

Gaudechon brings with him two decades of experience in the games industry. Prior to his appointment as CEO of OneFootball Labs, Gaudechon held various roles in the combined total of 16 years he spent at video gaming giant Electronic Arts (EA). 

He began his career in gaming at EA in 2002 as producer/designer for FIFA07, UEFA Champions League, Euro 2004 and Total Club Manager 2004. Over 11 years, he climbed the ranks to become studio head & executive producer before leaving EA to join CCP Games 2013 as GM and executive producer. 

He later left CCP Games in 2018 to rejoin EA as head of product and franchise strategy. Most recently, he was VP & group GM of the company’s Asia studios for three years.
