Popular mafia metaverse project Syn City on Monday announced singer-rapper Swae Lee as its Chief Entertainment Officer (CEO). The five-time Grammy Award nominee will be taking the role with immediate effect, which the blockchain gaming project believes could be pivotal ahead of next year’s highly anticipated collision of digital art, music, and metaverse gaming.

Syn City is a metaverse project that allows players to build crews, run businesses, build metaverse criminal syndicates, and raid other syndicates within the platform’s gaming universe.

Swae Lee and his brother Slim Jxmmi make up the popular hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd. The rapper will be responsible for relationships, strategy, and revenue for the mafia metaverse game, whilst bringing his experience and expertise in the music industry to Syn City.

The popular rapper has collaborated with some of the biggest names in modern hip hop, including Drake and Alicia Keys, before recently teaming up with Jhené Aiko to release their hit video ‘In The Dark,’ from ‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’. 

The Inglewood, Calif-born rapper was also featured in ‘Sunflower’ by Post Malone, which was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2020, after hitting the top of the Billboard charts last year.

Syn City is backed by several venture capitalists, VC firms and angel investors, including Twitch and Goat Capital co-founder Justin Kan, who recently launched Fractal, for gaming NFTs.

Spartan, hyperedge, Shima Capital, iAngels, A&T, Alex Pack of Hack VC, Robin Chan of Goat Capital, and Terra founder Do Kwon make up the list of several other iconic players in the cryptocurrency space.

¨In a short time, we have onboarded dozens of key opinion leaders, partners, and innovators with an aggregated user base of over 160 million users across social platforms,” SYN CITY Co-founder Roy Liu comments in a statement sent to media houses.

Liu said the project is still at the early stages, expanding its community building and engagement on Twitter, TikTok and many more, adding that Swae Lee ticked all the boxes in terms of expertise needed to take the Syn City mafia metaverse project to the next level.

Swae Lee’s role will expand beyond the blockchain, including roles in “entertainment marketing, music, non-fungible tokens, eSports, A-List KOLs, music tech software, and building strategic partnerships in the sports industry.”

Speaking following his appointment, Syn City CEO Swae Lee said whatever he does he does things that are interesting to him and his millions of followers. 

“The concept of SYN CITY struck a chord with me because it allows me to visualize some of my ideas and I get to be part of a new frontier in technology. It makes me optimistic for the future of our society,” Lee added.
