Geenee AR has announced the launch of its multi-metaverse game NFT All-Stars. According to the announcement, the game draws characters from at least 12 NFT p[rojects including Nomad Blvd, Nouns, Non-Fungible People, Doodles, CloneX, The Sandbox, Head5, MeSkulls, Ready Player Me Punks and SupDucks.
NFT All-Stars can be played on any platform with a web browser. It also allows Metamask wallet integration depending on the NFT project the characters are drawn from, allowing NFT holders to play the NFT characters they hold in their wallets.
An NFT is generally described as a digital representation of a music track, a short video clip, collectibles, artwork, or simple JPEGs, stored on the blockchain.
NFTs have gained popularity over the last eighteen months amid their increasing use cases. One of the emerging applications of NFTs is the adaptation to blockchain games where their unique character can become playable.
Some web3 companies like Yuga Labs have already leveraged their rich portfolio of NFT collections to expand their ecosystems to metaverse gaming.
Geenee is looking to take things a step higher by leveraging characters from multiple NFT projects.
In a recent statement to GamesBeat, Geenee AR’s Elena de Sosa stated that the next step in the metaverse journey involves converting 2D NFT profile pictures (PFPs) into real-time, interactive 3D characters.
“Project holders seek utility and want their avatars’ stories to progress. Geenee is excited to help tell those stories in a fun and meaningful way,” she added.
According to de Sosa, the game allows NFT All-Stars players to compete against each other in real-time through various activities including running and flying their characters.
There is also a global leaderboard where players can climb up the table by collecting AR stars.
Players can set up private lobbies or enter public games that run for about 45 seconds per round. The name multi-metaverse is also indicative of the game’s ability to allow thousands of players to take part at the same time.
