Damon Gura and Owen O’Donoghue have announced the launch of InfiniGods, a web3 gaming studio that allows players to access their in-game assets across games. The launch comes hot on the heels of the studio’s $9 million seed round announced in May.

Pantera Capital led the round with participation from leading blockchain and metaverse investment company Animoca Brands and web3 venture capital firm F. The company wants to bring the characters to life in the blockchain by creating a gaming ecosystem that makes web3 games “accessible and enjoyable for everyone” whilst also allowing them to own their in-game assets and build their own player economies.

The studio also leverages popular blockchain gaming features like power-ups and boosts whilst also utilizing NFTs to shape the gameplay and scarcity of unique features and rewards.

InfiniGods has already launched the beta version of its first game InfiniMerge, anticipated to launch in full before the end of fall, 2022. The company has also launched Community Merge, a feature that demonstrates its commitment to interoperability.

According to the press release on Wednesday, Community Merge will allow the company to select one project per quarter to be developed as an interactive playable experience on InfiniMerge by utilizing publicly available (CC0) assets.

InfiniMerge features gameplay inspired by Candy Crush, Triple Town and City Block.

Commenting on the InfiniGods launch, Damon Gura, co-founder and CEO of InfiniGods said: “We founded InfiniGods to change the landscape of the internet and the future of gaming by encouraging people to have fun and have real ownership in the assets they generate across games.”

The ex-DGN Games CEO thinks the barrier to web3 games is too high, which has discouraged some players from having fun. Gura also worked as Executive Director of Games and Product Operations at Williams Interactive.

Elsewhere, founding partner and CRO of InfiniGods, Owen O’Donoghue commented: “Our NFTs are designed from the start to be accessible and usable as cross-game assets not only in our games but also in games developed outside of InfiniGods. Through InfiniGods, we can onboard millions of new players to Web3 games!”

The former head of Casino and Fantasy Sports at Facebook said InfiniGods is unprecedented in gaming, adding that “InfiniGods games are built from the ground up around the idea of interoperability.”
