Paris-based video game development and publishing company Ubisoft has announced the NFT mint date for its first original blockchain game, Champions Tactics: Grimora Chronicles. The Warlord NFTs will be available on December 18, according to a post on X.
According to an earlier announcement, the game is offering 9,999 Champions Tactics Warlord NFTs, which unlock multiple benefits including exclusive in-game perks, VVIP status and more.
Although the NFTs will be minted on Ethereum, the Champions Tactics: Grimora Chronicles game will be deployed on the EVM chain, Oasys. Ubisoft revealed it will retain, 999 Warlord NFTs with 1,000 given to the Oasys community. The remaining 8,000 NFTs will be free to mint.
Those who hold Warlord NFTs will be granted access to Champions Tactics: Grimora Chronicles’ next mint with playable characters. Owners of the NFTs will be able to mint five Champions Tactics characters for free.
Ubisoft revealed it was building its first original NFT game Champions Tactics: Grimora Chronicles in June, about 14 months after its NFT experiment on Ghost Recon Breakpoint following a community backlash.
According to Ubisoft’s description, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles is a player-versus-player tactical game where players use mythical champions to battle against each other.
The game is set in the world of Grimora where seven factions with different characteristics including zombified creatures, supernaturals and medievals, among others.
The French gaming giant has already secured partnerships with other blockchain gaming projects including Pixelmon and CyberKongz ahead of the Champions Tactics release in early 2024.
Both projects have declared support for Champion’s upcoming launch and mint, according to their announcements on X, which Ubifost reposted on their official NFT game account.
The Ubisft Strategic Innovation Lab has recently partnered with Animoca Brands to bring Champions Tactics to the Web3 company’s loyalty program Mocaverse.
