NBC’s The Voice has launched a gamified metaverse experience that allows fans of the popular TV show to coach singers and win non-fungible tokens for their predictions for the real-time show.

Dubbed the “The Voice Coach Battle” the metaverse experience is a collaboration between Virtual Brand Group (VBG) and ITV Studios and the metaverse platform, The Sandbox. Fans will be able to mimic celebrity coaches’ activities including a virtual experience of using the show’s iconic red chairs and hitting the big red button.

Besides posing as virtual coaches in the metaverse, The Voice Coach Battle experience is also encouraging fans to engage with the 25th season of NBC’s The Voice from within the game.

The platorm incentivises fans to engage with the live show by rewarding them with NFTs for correctly predicting contestants that advance to the next round and the overall winner of the competition.

According to the announcement, the NFTs received could be used to unlock various experiences including winning an “opportunity to attend a live recording of the show in one of five different countries where the show airs,” Cointelegraph reported.

Justin Hochberg, the CEO of Virtual Brand Group believes experiences like “The Voice Coach Battle,” can transit TV entertainment. “Today the average gamer is 34 years old, almost two decades younger than broadcast TV audiences,” told Cointelegraph.

“Social gaming platforms have created an opportunity for content to connect with the elusive youth demographic, which will extend the lifespan of a TV format to make it more valuable globally,” he said.

According to Hochberg the gamified social experiences in the metaverse and Web3 are tailor-made for the generation that grew up with social media and the creator economy, adding that “The Voice Coach Battle” allows the audience to participate in a show whilst also contributing to it.
