Leading global beer producer Budweiser has partnered with NFT game Zed Run to bring its iconic Clydesdale racing horses to blockchain gaming. The new sponsorship deal will enable Budweiser to feature in-game skins of its famed Clydesdale mascots and a Budweiser-themed race track in the Zed Run game.

Subsequently, Zed Run said it will roll out incentivised in-game competitions over the next 12 months, including a total price of $185,000 and exclusive co-branded merchandise.

This is not the first time Budweiser is foraying into NFTs, the US brewer put an NFT imagery ad during this year’s Superbowl. The company has also previously released its own collectibles, as well as, bought the beer.eth ENS.

On the other hand, this is not Zed Run’s first attempt at a sponsorship deal with a beer maker. It previously inked a deal with beer brand Stella Artois. Both Budweiser and Stella Artois are brand names owned by American beer production company Anheuser-Busch.

Commenting on his company’s deal with the American-style pale lager beer brand, Chris Laurant, CEO and co-founder of Zed Run creator Virtually Human Studios said: “Working creatively alongside Budweiser, an iconic brand that epitomizes the American dream, opens up more opportunities for our expanding Zed Run community.”

To participate in the game, Zed Run users are required to own an NFT racehorse as a pass to gain entry into the community. Interested gamers can participate in an NFT auction of 2,500 NFTs offered at $255 each plus ETH transaction fees. The NFT drop will take place on June 9, 2022.

Budweiser has offered collectors who own an existing Budweiser Heritage Can NFT and either a Zed Run Genesis NFT racehorse or a Zed Run NASCAR pass an opportunity to gain early access to the auction before the public sale.

Budweiser plans to reward the holders of the NFT with a Clydesdale skin in July and a virtual t-shirt, which will be available as a virtual wearable in the Decentraland metaverse.

The $135,000 prize pool has been split into two challenges. One challenge will run in July and August, giving gamers an opportunity to receive a share of $45,000 price money. Another challenge will run in December, with a $95,000 prize money to be shared.
