Unstoppable Domains is doubling down on its Web3 strategy with an expansion to the Web2 domains territory. According to the announcement on Monday, Unstoppable Domains will make all Web3 domain features available to traditional .com domain owners.
The NFT domains and decentralised identity provider will allow Web3 domain owners to buy .com domains to work alongside their Web3 domains.
This announcement comes at the back of a series of partnerships that saw Unstoppable Domains sign partnership agreements with Polygon Network for .Polygon domains and Ethereum Network for .eth domains.
Commenting on his company’s latest strategic move, Matt Gould, CEO and founder of Unstoppable Domains said: “We are thrilled to expand our offerings into the world of Web2, enabling users to buy such iconic domain names as .com alongside their Web3 addresses — all via a single platform.”
“This is a major milestone that continues Unstoppable’s mission to become a one-stop shop for web3 domains – including traditional web2 domains that are web3 enabled. By uniting both Web3 and Web2, Unstoppable creates a huge opportunity to onboard even more users to the domain space, bridging web2 and web3,” Gould added.
According to the announcement, Unstoppable Domains also plans to add crypto wallet support, enabling Unstoppable-managed .com domains to effortlessly receive and send crypto using easy-to-remember addresses via a simple and unified interface such as Coinbase Wallet and Metamask.
Web3 domains are among the most popular crypto verticals due to their ability to support decentralised IDs. decentralised IDs allow users to sign up and authenticate their profiles on Web3 platforms without following the Know-Your-Customer process.
