Germany-based TV company Sprort1 has announced a partnership with the digital fan token platform Starzz. The company said on Tuesday it has purchased shares in Starzz LLC, the parent company of the web3 startup, which offers fan tokens to sports clubs and celebrities.

This partnership will allow Starzz to reach a wider market through the Sport1 network including TV, digital, audio and social media.

The two companies have agreed to jointly invest in web3 projects as they look to onboard new users through the interactive activation of celebrities and fans.

By combining Sport1’s consumer-facing platforms and Starzz’s digital fan token platform, the two companies are perfectly poised to onboard the sports and entertainment industries onto web3, Sport1 said in a press release.

“With the focus on sports and entertainment, both partners are an ideal fit to develop new use cases based on blockchain technology and reach as well as existing access to the market.”

The Starzz platform will focus on enhancing the interaction between clubs, athletes, celebrities or content creators – with their communities.

Commenting on the partnership, Marco Kowalewski, Founder of Starzz LLC said: “We are very happy to have SPORT1 as a renowned and well-known partner at our side, who is aware of the opportunities in the sports and entertainment market due to the digital transformation. Through this partnership, we hope to make the Starzz brand better known in the German-speaking region and to launch joint products with high user acceptance.”

Kowalewski believes that this collaboration will increase Sport1’s global brand awareness whilst showcasing its unique product portfolio.

On the other hand, Matthias Reichert, CCO and Member of the Management of Sport1 GmbH commented: “With Starzz, we have found the ideal partner to continue the journey we have started in the Web3 sector. We are firmly convinced that you can achieve more together with collaboration in the interplay of different competencies. We see sport as the ideal translator of technical possibilities into concrete and functioning use cases.
