Palm Foundation has launched a $45,000 grant for artists selected by the Patio curatorial committee to have installations exhibited at Patio by ZsONAMACO during the Art Baja California art fair.
The grant is part of an initiative by the non-profit organisation to nurture creative projects developed on Palm Network.
The outdoor exhibition of art installations, sculptures and ephemeral works will be showcased on March 7-8, 2024 at San Jose Baja California. Selected artists will have an opportunity to bring their physical art pieces into the digital world by minting them as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Palm Network.
Hosted by LATAM’s leading art fair platform, ZsONAMACO, hundreds of exhibitors around the world are expected to showcase their works to tens of thousands of visitors.
According to press material shared with NFTgators, during its 2023 record-breaking edition, the event received more than 77,000 visitors and over 200 exhibitors from all over the world, with more than 50 national museum groups also joining the fair.
In addition to the grant, Palm Foundation will also provide technical support when creating and minting NFTs complimentary to their physical art. Artists will retain the intellectual and commercial rights to their work, allowing them to sell their NFT art on selected commercial platforms.
Palm Foundation is also looking to empower the featured artists by inviting all participants to select one of their minted NFTs to participate in a Palm DAO community vote. Artists with the highest votes will be rewarded with an additional $1,000 grant.
This is not the only initiative launched by Palm Foundation to support artists. The organization is also sponsoring similar programs for artist residencies in Mexico City and Berlin.
Artists selected for the $45,000 grant will also be offered an opportunity to expand their professional development by learning more about NFTs.
