MixMob has acquired the licensing rights to the Original Stormtrooper IP for its Remix Culture gaming universe. The Solana-based Web3 gaming ecosystem will now feature IP from the iconic helmet and armour design that first appeared in Star Wars: A New Hope.

MixMob plans to add a new IP to its debut card racing game MixMob: Racer 1, allowing players to race using 3D characters of the design against others. According to the announcement, MixMob’s Gen0 Masks and Gen0 MixBots holders will be granted priority access to new IPs.

Commenting on the announcement, Simon Vieira, CEO of MixMob, said in a statement: “Integrating the Original Stormtrooper into MixMob fulfils a dream shared by game developers worldwide. Our vision is to create dynamic teams and factions that rally under the banner of the Original Stormtroopers, transforming them into symbols of unity and competition within the game. The anticipation of facing off against these iconic squads adds a thrilling dimension to the racing experience.”

Created by Andrew Ainsworth in 1976, the Original Stormtrooper debuted in the first instalment of the Star Wars films, which has now grown to become a multi-billion dollar franchise, expanding to comics, animated series and live-action TV shows.

MixMob’s successful acquisition of the Stormtrooper IP does not come as a surprise. The company is led by CEO Simon Vieira and Executive Producer Pavel Bains, who successfully acquired licenses for Peanuts, Warner Bros Kids, DreamWorks and others.

MixMob: Racer 1 is already available on desktop, where gamers worldwide will be able to have a glimpse of the integration of the Stormtrooper license, ahead of the highly anticipated Stormtrooper drops.

The company has collaborated with Epik to offer additional enhancements and rewards to owners of the Original Stormtrooper items and players participating in challenges.

MixMob plans to release the mobile version of MixMob: Racer 1 in the second quarter of 2024.
