WWVentures has closed a $15 million funding round backed by Liverpool FC’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Philadelphia 76ers’ Tobias Harris, and content creator MrBeast. The fundraising also attracted participation from YouTube gamers Fresh and Lachlan, content creator LazarBeam, and former UFC Champion Michael Bisping.

The web3 venture capital firm said it will use the funds to invest in projects that focus on blockchain infrastructure and tooling, the metaverse, blockchain gaming and decentralised finance (DeFi).

The firm is targeting projects in their early stages, including pre-seed and seed rounds, in the form of social capital whilst also offering community-building support through its network of influencer investors.

Commenting on the fundraising, Adam Haklili, Managing Partner of WWVentures lauded his company’s commitment to bringing blockchain technology to the masses.

“We’ve been creating and participating in communities over the past few years, so the route of backing our projects with social capital and community support came natural to us. We’re eager to work with founders and teams who are disrupting the industry and helping bridge the gap between blockchain and mainstream audiences,” he said.

YouTube gamer and content creator Fresh echoed those remarks adding that web3 could be a massive opportunity for the gaming community.

“I invested with WWVentures as they give me the opportunity to invest in top-tier industry projects and connect with founders and teams that share similar goals. I know WWV also supports this stance.”

WWVentures has already invested in the multiplatform blockchain tracking tool for NFTs AssetDash, pop culture NFT platform Taiko, medieval gaming platform Blocklords, and eSports performance platform Fnatic.

Blocklords CEO, David Johansson commented: “Since we signed with them, we’ve received unparalleled support on everything from creative discussion and game design to community-building and meeting new partners. WWVentures has brought true value as a partner, and we could not be more excited to pave the future of BLOCKLORDS together with them.”
