Astar Network has announced Astar zkEVM mainnet will be launching later in February. The company also announced the launch of the Yoki Origins NFT campaign, set to debut following the mainnet launch.

The Astar zkEVM platform will allow brands and enterprises to gain access to secure, scalable and gas-efficient solutions while leveraging on the Ethereum ecosystem’s rich toolset and industry-leading security features.

The platform also provides developers with access to Ethereum’s range of developer resources and infrastructure providers. Powered by Polygon Network’s Chain Development Kit (CDK), the platform gives builders exposure to seamless interoperability and access to Ethereum’s liquidity.

Astar zkEVM has already onboarded a variety of Web3 projects and service providers, including the leading decentralised exchange platform on Polygon QuickSwap and the omnichain interoperability protocol LayerZero.

Indexing protocol for blockchain data The Graph, the aggregated NFT marketplace Rarible, and Astar Network’s leading Web3 infrastructure provider Startale are also among those already using Astar zkEVM.

Commenting on the announcement, Maarten Henskens, Head of Astar Network said in a statement: “Astar Network is proud to be an early pioneer in the use of Polygon’s zero-knowledge technology and Chain Development Kit to enter the Ethereum ecosystem. Astar zkEVM will establish a bridge between Japan and the broader web3 ecosystem, with projects by top Japanese enterprises, famous IPs, and prominent industries to be unveiled soon.”

Astar Network said some of Japan’s leading enterprises will soon integrate with Astar zkEVM, as part of the company’s plans to bring use cases to the Astar community.

Astar Network is commemorating the zkEVM mainnet launch with the Yoki Origins campaign, which it describes as “a journey for users to discover Astar Network’s original characters inspired by Japanese Yokais “Yokis”.

The company has collaborated with 40 web3 projects, creators, and enterprises to launch interactive Capsule Machines, known as “Yo-Ports”. Users will be able to collect and upgrade Yokis featuring artwork prepared by artists, enterprises, and builders.

The campaign is user-friendly, as it allows social logins and credit card payments, thus requiring no prior experience in Web3 to participate.
