Yuga Labs Hires Former Epic Games Executive as Chief Technology Officer

Yuga Labs has announced the appointment of Mike Seavers as its Chief Technology Officer. The former Epic Games executive led teams across multiple disciplines at the gaming software provider.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Seavers was lead in product development across Unreal Engine, Online Services, Epic Games Store, Fortnite Engineering, Infrastructure, Data, and Security, among others.

He will be taking up his new position at the Miami-based web3 company on May 22, 2023. Yuga Labs is renowned for creating the most popular NFT collection the Bored Ape Yacht Club. It also acquired Cryptopunks from Larva Labs expanding its dominance in the NFT space.

Yuga Labs has since expanded into metaverse gaming with its leading product in the space, Otherside, which also offers land NFTs through its collection, Otherdeeds. 

Commenting on the appointment of Seavers, Yuga Labs CEO Daniel Alegre said: “Mike has a proven track record of taking organizations to the next level, and he shares our vision for how important digital identity and community will be for the future of the internet. We have an opportunity to be the Web3 platform at the forefront of entertainment, and Mike’s expertise will help us scale to achieve that.”

Seavers will be replacing the current CTO, co-founder Kerem Atalay, who will be staying on as a strategic adviser. 

Seavers’ experience in the gaming sector stretches beyond Epic James, before joining the Fortnite creator in 2021, he was the CTO  of Riot Games. Riot’s gaming studio is renowned for creating popular titles like the League of Legends and Valorant.
