Leading eSports organization Team Vitality on Thursday signed a 3-year deal with Tezos to revamp the fan experience. The Paris-based franchise is zooming on blockchain technology to create new ways of rewarding fans. 

Vitality seeks to improve the engagement between the community and its star players, which will be made possible by utilizing Tezos’ energy-efficient blockchain ecosystem. In return, Team Vitality will represent Tezos by championing the blockchain platform’s brand at the biggest stage.

Team Vitality fans will be able to get closer to their favourite teams and earn rewards whilst learning about the benefits of blockchain as part of the gaming experience. 

The modern esports fan is tech-savvy and highly engaged, which shows the importance of creating a fan-centric experience by leveraging the disruptive capabilities of blockchain technology.

The 3-year deal, which runs starting in 2022, through 2024 illustrates the current shift in gaming trends with more mainstream gaming companies leveraging blockchain technology to improve player experience.

Tezos uses proof-of-stake technology, rather than proof-of-work, thus making it more energy-efficient.

Commenting on the partnership, Nicolas Maurer, CEO, Team Vitality said the deal comes at an opportune time when the organization is preparing for the biggest year in its history. 

“The opportunities Tezos can bring to strengthen the relationship between us and our fans is incredibly exciting, and we’re immensely proud to have Tezos join us on this journey,” he said.

Mason Edwards, Chief of Staff, Tezos Foundation was equally excited to seal the partnership, highlighting Team Vitality’s status as a leading esports organization in Europe.

“The decision from Team Vitality to choose the energy-efficient Tezos blockchain as a technical partner is another signal to the established and growing gaming vertical that low gas fees, forkless upgradability, and ease-of-use are the key factors driving the next wave of adoption for blockchain technologies,” he said.

The Team Vitality franchise has over 13 million followers on social media worldwide, making it one of the largest organizations in esports. Its strategic partnership with Tezos is an addition to a growing list that includes Adidas, Orange and CORSAIR.
