The first-of-its-kind Mafia Metaverse game Syn City has partnered with Overwolf, a guild for in-game creators to bring user-generated content to play-to-earn (P2E) games. Overwolf announced on Friday its investment in one of the fastest-growing metaverse gaming projects, joining a growing list of investors betting on the success of Syn City Mafia Metaverse game.

The two companies will combine their expertise to explore opportunities for user-generated content (UGC) in the metaverse including the creation, sharing, and monetization of in-game items.

In November, Syn City raised $8 million to accelerate the development of the game. Participants in the funding round included Twitch, Project Galaxy, Animoca Brands, and Huobi Ventures, among others.

The company recently appointed American hip hop artist Swae Lee to be its Chief Entertainment Officer, tasked with helping to drive the marketing campaign. Since then the platform has seen an uptick in followers, amassing over 80,000 members in less than a month.

Syn City will also in the future integrate with Overwolf’s guild platform, allowing creators to monetize their in-game creations. The Mafia Metaverse game wants to embrace the growing trend of empowering gamers, by allowing community user-generated items and experiences to generate income for gamers.

Commenting on the importance of embracing an ecosystem where gamers have a stake in games, Roy Liu, Co-founder of Syn City said that to be successful, social platforms must allow creators to create content for other stakeholders in the game, including friends, clients and other ecosystem participants.

“Producers and creators of user-generated NFTs and content can forge their own experiences for the entire community to benefit from,” Liu said.

Overwolf stalk as a UGS as a Service provider has risen amid the explosion of metaverse gaming. The platform vision is based on the view that the future of metaverse gaming lies with user-generated content, and that “enabling creators to build services with and around NFTs” is at the centre of it all.

Expressing the UGC platform’s excitement after investing in Syn City’s Mafia Metaverse project, Shahar Sorek, Overwolf CMO said, “Syn City’s commitment to UGC both in-game and on-chain by introducing a unique in-game governance feature called Mafia-as-a-DAO (MaaD) is a very exciting development in the P2E space.”
