Sports entertainment company, DAZN, today announced that it has launched a boxing-focused NFT marketplace, DAZNBOXING.io.

This news follows the company said it would be making bigger moves in the NFT space after receiving a $4.3 billion investment from billionaire businessman Len Blavatnik in February. Prior to the recapitalisation, DAZN was operating at a loss.

This is not DAZN’s first foray into the NFT space. Last April, the company launched boxing NFTs to commemorate Canelo Alvarez’s clash with Billy Joe Saunders.

The launch of DAZNBOXING is part of DAZN’s growth strategy to offer boxing fans a range of sports entertainment content alongside live sports streaming. The DAZNBOXING website will have a secondary NFT marketplace in the near future.

“DAZN is sport. We continue to diversify our platform, taking the fan experience to another level and becoming the world’s single digital destination for sports fans. NFTs are part of that story,” said Shay Segev, CEO, DAZN Group.

DAZNBOXING’s first NFT collection features exciting moments from 2021 DAZN fights including Parker vs. Chisora, Estrada vs. Chocolatito, Cameron vs. McGee, Haney vs. Diaz, Lopez vs. Kambosos, and more. They are sold in a mystery pack of three.

The DAZNBOXING NFTs are available for purchase with both crypto and fiat, and come in a variety of short video clips and still images, with rarities scattered throughout the mystery packs. From Jul 11 – 15, any buyer purchasing an NFT pack will receive a limited-edition Ryan Garcia NFT for free and qualify for a chance to win exclusive Garcia merch.

The week-long promotion campaign ends just ahead of Jul 16, when Garcia will take on two-time world champion Javier Fortuna in a fight that will exclusively broadcast live worldwide on DAZN.

The announcement of DAZNBOXING also follows the launch of DAZN MOMENTS, DAZN Group’s sports-dedicated NFT marketplace in Japan, in March.

DAZN MOMENTS has launched a limited-edition NFT collection in partnership with Meiji Yasuda Seimei J.League, featuring official match footage and the best sporting moments from the 2021-2022 seasons of J.League, Japan’s premier football league.
