“SHIB: The Metaverse” is going live by the end of 2023, but not in the way the community would have expected. According to the developers of the immersive virtual experience, the full launch cannot be done in totality by December because it is an ongoing project.
SHIB: The Metaverse is a part of the popular Shiba Inu ecosystem. The metaverse experience is being developed to expand utility offerings to the Shib community.
The metaverse platform was first announced in January 2022, under the moniker Shiberse, before changing the name to “SHIB: The Metaverse” two months later. Since then, the platform has made some key milestones, according to a blog post published on ShibaSwap.
In the blog post, Shib said users will be able to explore some areas of its metaverse platform by the of the year. They will be able to build structures, design avatars and other assets, play games, and develop within the metaverse.
“However, it should be noted that not all areas of the Metaverse will be fully completed as it is an ongoing project. The world will continuously evolve and develop, but there will be several optimized Hubs and all necessary tools for users to start building and creating,” the blog post reads.
Shib also revealed a new social media account dedicated to SHIB: The Metaverse. The account has already gained nearly 90k followers as of this writing.
The company also revealed major infrastructure developments for SHIB: The Metaverse to provide users with more photorealistic experiences. Shib is using 3D graphics provided by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5.1 to redevelop parts of the previous gameplay design.
The first version of SHIB: The Metaverse will feature various creator tools and assets including the Plot Builder, a UI tool that allows to create and customise their plots. There are also Avatar Builder and Game Maker tools.
