Sheikha Hend Al Qassemi has joined Web3 art startup Artfi. The Sharjah-based Emirati royal announced her latest move via Twitter. She joins as a partner and adviser to the startup looking to democratise art through blockchain technology.

Sharjah is the UAE’s capital for art and Sheikha Hend will be looking to scale Artfi’s growth by bringing her great exposure to art and culture to the company as an artist and art patron.

Sheikha Hend has been promoting artists from the MENA region as part of her campaign to drum growth in the industry.

Artfi is following a long list of Web3 startups that have collaborated with artists from the mainstream industry to onboard masses to the world of NFT art.

Asif Kamal, the founder and CEO of Artfi recently said: “Web3 is new and any startup that is building a project on Web3 needs to understand the power of the right partnership and collaboration.”

Kamal believes that now is a great time for companies to build their communities and develop new products before the crypto market recovers from the current downturn.

“The market is in a bad phase and it’s a great opportunity for the founders to build a product, focus on community building, marketing and collaboration,” he said.

Artfi is a fast-growing community of artists, art connoisseurs, and art investors who are committed to democratising art ownership through non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and blockchain technology.

Artfi is building a platform that will allow more people to invest in fine arts by buying & selling fractionalized ownership as NFTs. This adds another dimension to the art industry, which traditionally belonged to a select class of collectors.

The NFTs and collectibles space has been one of the leading investment attractions within the web3 space. Last week, digital art collectors and NFT project creators participated in one of the largest global NFT events ever, NFT.NYC.

It brought a new dimension to the previous NFT events organised by art auction houses in partnership with web3 companies.
