Saudi Arabia Takes National Day Celebrations to the Metaverse

Saudi Arabia-based creative advertising agency The Bold Group has partnered with King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) to bring this year’s National Day celebrations to the metaverse.

Saudi’s 92nd National Day celebration will also feature national attire offered as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for event visitors. Visitors will experience Saudi Culture in the 3D virtual world called, the metaverse.

According to the announcement, the virtual Saudi National Day celebration will kick off on September 22 through September 24, 2022.

The partnership is meant to make Saudi Culture accessible to the world, educating future generations about the full breadth Middle-eastern Kingdom’s rich heritage.

According to beer Alessa, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Bold Group, the project will bring the metaverse to life in an impactful way by paying tribute to Saudi National Day.

The partnership is blending the past with the future by leveraging the decentralised metaverse and Saudi’s rich culture. The metaverse will not only preserve the Kingdom’s heritage but also display it to the world with pride for people to engage with and learn from.

“Our focus has always been to bring value to our partners and community, and this unique experience paves the way for others to discover exciting new opportunities in the market. In line with the Kingdom’s transformative outlook for Vision 2030, The Bold Group embraces the change and strives to be the pioneer of new and emerging technologies in the digital sphere,” Alessa added.

The event will be held in the Decentraland metaverse, one of the leading platforms for immersive experiences. The digital space reserved for the event “will feature multiple layers of Saudi culture in an open-air museum, with each level displaying various representations of the beauty of Saudi Arabia,” the partners wrote in a press statement.

Saudi Arabia has been one of the leading early adopters of the metaverse and Web3. Earlier this month, the Kingdom’s Central Bank (SAMA) hired former Accenture’s managing director Mohsen AlZahrani to lead the bank’s virtual assets division including the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier this year, Neom Tech & Digital Co. announced the launch of a Cognitive Metaverse Project during a $6.4 billion 3-day technology conference Leap.
