Game developer and operator, Ring Games, has raised $5 million in a global funding round co-led by Animoca Brands and Planetarium. Participants in the round include venture capitals firms and guilds such as DeFiance Capital, Play Ventures, Double Peak, DWeb3 Capital, GuildFi, Avocado DAO, and PathDAO.
Ring Games was founded in 2019 by the former core developers of game ‘King’s Raid’, which has registered over 10 million downloads across 150 countries worldwide. The team has been working on a new P2E game, Stella Fantasy, which features anime-style NFT collectible characters.
Stella Fantasy is developed on the Unreal Engine with full-3D Bishōjo characters and appeals to anime fans. It is an NFT RPG that features fantasy elements and combines live-action gameplay with NFT collectibles and a crypto rewards layer to engage anime fans across the globe.
“Stella Fantasy’s high-quality visuals, real-time approach, originality, and the core concept of delivering enjoyable gameplay compelled us to support this ambitious project,” said Yat Siu, executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands.
Animoca Brands is an acclaimed industry leader in the GameFi and blockchain field with $1.5 billion invested in 340 NFT and decentralised projects contributing to the construction of the next-generation open metaverse ecosystem.
Animoca’s top portfolio companies include its controlling stakes in The Sandbox, GAMEE, nWay, Blowfish Studios, Grease Monkey Games, REVV Motorsport, TOWER, Quidd, Lympo, and Forj.
Stella Fantasy, which Ring Games claims is a “premium P2E game”, is in its final stage of development and is scheduled for launch in late August this year. It will kick off its marketing campaign with a series of promotion plans starting with a gameplay trailer release and whitelist events in the coming months.
