Quick take:
- Formerly known as Polygon ID, the digital identity platform will expand to multiple chains, including Optimism, Base, and Arbitrum, for the first time.
- The merged entity is also discussing bringing their combined identity solutions to DeFi platforms, enterprise ecosystems, and governance structures.
- The unified digital ID solutions will allow users to manage their identities across multiple platforms.
Privado ID, formerly Polygon ID is going chain-agnostic following its merger with Disco, a pioneer in multichain verifiable data and reputation management.
The digital identity platform has already established a proof-of-concept (PoC) with some of the leading banks and financial institutions, including recently Telefonica Group’s digital technology unit Telefonica Tech.
In press material shared with NFTgators, On Thursday Privado ID said the merger with Disco aims to accelerate the development of a unified chain-agnostic digital identity infrastructure bridging Web2 and Web3.
Privado ID is expanding to multiple chains, including Optimism, Base, and Arbitrum, for the first time. The merged entity is also discussing bringing their combined identity solutions to DeFi platforms, enterprise ecosystems, and governance structures.
According to the announcement, the unified identity solutions offered by the merged entity will allow users to manage their identities across multiple platforms. With use cases such as the proof of age, location and personhood, the solutions enable perpetual verifiability across any single app, service, chain, or space.
On the other hand, protocols and businesses will leverage Unified Identity for the automatic delivery of benefits and opportunities to the right parties in a connected world.
Commenting on the merger, Evin McMullen, founder and CEO of Disco said in a statement: The Privado ID cofounders and team have redefined citizenship of the new internet with identity tools deeply rooted in a strong ethos. At Disco, our work has always centred on scaling trust with neutrality, and by joining forces, we’re advancing our shared mission to make the connected world more personal, efficient, secure, and delightful.”
By leveraging Disco’s Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs), Privado ID enhances cross-chain compatibility enabling it to expand its services across multiple EVM-compatible chains.
“As we’ve seen with the success of Polygon’s ecosystem, the future of Web3 lies in scalability, interoperability, and user empowerment,” said Antoni Martin, Co-Founder & COO of Privado ID.
David Z, Co-Founder and CEO of Privado ID added: “Connecting verifiable trust across protocols is the key to abstracting away blockchain and data complexity, a thesis we have shared first in partnership with Disco, and now as teammates.”
