English singer, songwriter and former member of the heavy metal band, Black Sabbath, John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne, has announced his entry into the NFT marketplace with his fair collection of the NFTs.

Osbournes NFTs, dubbed ‘CryptoBatz’ is a collection of 9,666 unique Batz named after the infamous moment he bit the head off a bat during a 1982 performance in Des Moines, Iowa.

CryptoBatz is designed by Osbourne himself and will bring a world-first one-of-a-kind feature to the NFT market.

According to the announcement, as first revealed by Rolling Stone, each Cryptobat gives the owner an opportunity to birth a new NFT, which then gains the ability to bite and mutate with another NFT within their digital wallet, creating ‘MutantBatz’.

The MutantBatz feature will allow owners to combine the attributes of two different projects, creating a unique rarity in the NFT market. Some of the popular NFT projects onboard with CryptoBatz’s MutantBatz feature include Bored Ape Yacht Club, SupDucks, Cryptotoadz and a fourth mystery name, allowing the combination of their NFTs as part of the project.

CryptoBatzhas launched a pre-sale of the project on its Discord channel, with a further 2,500 guaranteed CryptoBat pre-sale whitelist passes to be availed exclusively through the same channel.

Speaking after the announcement, Osbourne articulated his unfulfilled desire to get into NFTs, including an unsuccessful attempt to get a Bored Ape from his wife, Sharon, which prompted him to launch his own NFT collection.

“CryptoBatz is a [f**ng] mental project for NFT collectors and fans. The design pays tribute to one of my most iconic onstage moments and is a chance to acquire a rare piece of art history. I love it!” he said.

Successful pre-sale applicants will be able to mint up to three CryptoBatz per digital wallet, with public minting scheduled for early February. (You can find out how to mint an NFT here.)

Osbourne also announced AncientBatz, a cousin to the CryptoBatz NFT collection. AncientBatz is an NFT collection of virtual Batz scattered across the world in hidden locations.

Collectors of CryptoBatz will be able to participate in a treasure hunt for AncientBatz, which will be able to bite up to 100 times CryptoBatz, giving them the ability to breed 100 MutantBatz.
