Nothing has teamed up with Polygon blockchain to bring NFTs to its smartphone “Nothing Phone (1)”. The company has announced the Nothing Community Dots NFTs are set to debut on July 7, when its inaugural smartphone launches.
The company’s first NFT token dubbed Balck Dots will be offered to the Nothing.tech community on July 7, and shortly after to Nothing Phone pre-order customers. Those looking to participate in the airdrop are required to register on dots.nothing.tech.
Nothing’s NFT-enabled phone announcement comes barely two weeks after Solana Labs launched the Saga Web3 phone bringing NFTs to smartphones. Polygon is joining its blockchain counterpart by providing the underlying blockchain technology for Nothing Community NFTs.
For community investors, registration begins July 5 at 12:00 BST to run through August 12, 23:59 BST, while the airdrop kicks off at 22:00 BST on July 7 and will run until August 13, at 10:00 BST.
On the other hand, Phone (1) pre-order customers have a relatively shorter window of opportunity to participate in the NFT drop. There are no pre-drop registrations. Interested customers can register and participate in the Airdrop from July 12, through August 13.
The company has also introduced exclusive rewards to be offered to 10 Black Dot holders from Nothing’s private community. The NFT holders will be given an opportunity to win exclusive invites to attend the Phone (1) launch as a first reward, Nothing said.
The company is committed to making its Phone category and ecosystem ready for a Web3 future.
If Nothing and Solana’s Web3 phones are embraced successfully, they could provide a new vertical for rolling out Web3 to the masses. According to Statista, there are approximately 6.648 billion smartphone users worldwide, representing more than 83% of the global population.
That is a huge base to cast the blockchain technology net in a bid to onboard masses to Web3.
Solana’s Saga phone launch received more than 1,300 pre-orders within hours of launching. Now all eyes will be on Nothing’s Phone (1).
