Of the 20,000 plots of land available, 19,969 were sold, with the remaining 31 plots held for future giveaways. Illuvium said that there were no gas wars during the land sale, perhaps a dig at Yuga Labs’ recent Otherdeeds land sale and the infamous gas wars that took place during it despite the company ditching its initial Dutch auction plan to avoid gas wars.
For its land sale, Illuvium partnered with Immutable X, a Layer-2 Ethereum scaling solution for NFTs, providing the game with near-instant, gas-free and carbon-neutral transactions.
Releasing on PC and Mac this year, Illuvium is a play-to-earn AAA sci-fi adventure game. Players will conquer the open world to hunt and capture Illuvials, which are powerful creatures that rule the land, to help their crash-landed Ranger race across crystal labyrinths, toxic deserts, and windswept mountain summits.
These Illuvials can be trained and fused into powerful evolutions to build the ultimate team in PvE and PvP battles. In these battles, players can earn rewards and experience points in order to progress onto more dangerous terrains in the game.
As players discover the capabilities of the Illuvials they collect, they can use their creativity to build unique synergies to outsmart their opponents.
Landowners in Illuvium can extract fuel, a critical element for catching and upgrading Illuvials, by building a virtual industrial complex in Illuvium Zero – the desktop and mobile partner game to Illuvium.
Illuvium’s collectible NFT games feature crypto token assets with functionality, interoperable across the Illuvium universe and the larger DeFi metaverse. As all in-game assets are blockchain tokens on Immutable X, players can also sell fuel or other items on the IlluviDex marketplace in the near future.
