- Mattel Creations has teamed up with VeeFriends to launch a VeeFriends UNO Deck.
- The children’s toys and games creator is joining hands with Gary Vaynerchuk’s NFT signature characters to life.
- The VeeFriends UNO Deck going for $25 sold immediately after they started selling on the Mattel Creations website.
Gary Vaynerchuk has partnered with Mattel Creations to bring his VeeFriends NFT signature characters to life on a UNO Deck. Announcing the collaboration on Twitter, VeeFriends tweeted:
Mattel Creations is a leading company in the children’s toys and games market with some of its top brands including Barbie®, Hot Wheels®, Fisher-Price®, American Girl®, Thomas & Friends®, UNO® and MEGA®.
The deck, dubbed VeeFriends X UNO deck includes one special, non-playable foil card to collect— featuring one of 17 of the VeeFriends signature characters including Charming Cheetah, Sweet Swan, Gary Bee, and more.
It is one of the very first physical products to originate from an NFT brand and will give UNO fand and NFT collectors an opportunity to own a VeeFriends collectible in the physical form of a UNO deck.
The VeeFriends X UNO deck will also be the first-ever to have randomly inserted foil cards that mirror VeeFriends NFT token colours. According to the announcement, the Gary Bee card will be the hardest for collectors to find with all 17 VeeFriends characters coming in varying levels of rarity.
With the entry into the collectables space, the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) will now start grading UNO cards starting with the VeeFriends X UNO collectibles.
Richard Dickson, President and Chief Operating Officer, Mattel was excited by the partnership with VeeFriends maintaining the company’s commitment to bringing more brands to the NFT space.
In a statement following the announcement of the collaboration, he said, “Gary’s leadership in this digital dialogue, coupled with our #1 card game in the world UNO, is sure to create a collectible craze as we continue to redefine the intersection between gaming, digital art and collectability.”
This is not the first partnership between a children’s game creator and an NFT project. On Dec. 14, we reported MGA Entertainment’s partnership with Ioconic to bring the L.O.L Surprise Trading Card Game to the NFT space. The partnership helped launch the largest retail NFT in history.
Therefore, with Gary Vaynerchuk’s and Mattel’s collaboration, this starts to form a trend between real-world assets and the NFT space that could see a lot more brands join the industry.
