Premier League football club, Manchester City, has announced the launch of the brand new Blue Moon experience on Roblox. It is the first Premier League football club to launch an official club-themed experience on the platform.
The experience follows the story of Man City’s mascots Moonchester and Moonbeam, and features activities such as a minigame, and a virtual Man City store. Fans can play and watch Moonball matches, which will be held in the virtual Blue Moon experience, as well as complete quests to earn in-game rewards and interact with each other on Roblox.
Fans can also unlock free UGC (user-generated content) items by collecting coins and style their avatars in limited edition digital Man City gear by playing the Goal Kick Simulator.
“Manchester City continues to embrace the latest technologies to enhance experiences for our fans across the globe – both physically and in the digital world, exploring new and exciting ways to engage and entertain our fanbase,” said Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing and Fan Experience Officer at City Football Group.
Today, the Premier League Trophy will make its first virtual stop on Roblox as part of Manchester City’s Trophy Tour. For 48 hours, Cityzens can lift the Premier League Trophy, take pictures with it, collect unique items and meet other fans.
“Another first for the club, this collaboration aims to inspire the next generation of fans and we look forward to delivering this innovative new experience on Roblox and bring the Premier League Trophy into the metaverse,” Terre added.
To become a Cityzen, fans can simply complete a survey on Man City’s Roblox page. To celebrate the launch of the Blue Moon experience, Manchester City’s 2022/23 Home Shirt will be available to unlock as a free item for a limited time only.
More upgrades, updates and events will be coming to the Blue Moon experience on Roblox in the coming months.
The Roblox experience is Manchester City’s next move in the Web3 space. In May, the football club teamed up with Puma to launch an NFT art commemorating Sergio Aguero’s historic goal.
The Premier League recently said that it is going ahead with its NFT plans despite the market downturn.
