Quick take:

  • Linktree is focusing on launching new revenue streams for creators and brands.
  • The NFT gallery allows creators to display NFTs directly on their Linktree.
  • Creators can use their NFT as a profile picture or background on Linktree.

Link-in-bio platform, Linktree, has announced that it is rolling out new NFT features for creators in the Web3 space. The set of new features will allow NFT creators to “streamline their online identities and monetize their followers.”

With the new NFT features, Linktree is enabling creators to monetise their craft and build a digital identity in new ways. Linktree users can also readily access NFTs and “build a community around ownership” on the platform.

Developed in partnership with OpenSea, the new features include NFT gallery links, NFT profile images and backgrounds, and NFT lock.

The NFT gallery link allows creators on Linktree to display NFTs directly on their Linktree by adding the URL of the OpenSea archive to generate the preview. Users have the option of adding their MetaMask wallet to verify ownership of the archive. Alternatively, users can also connect their MetaMask wallet and display up to six proprietary NFTs in the gallery. Visitors can click on the OpenSea link on a creator’s page to view and purchase an NFT.

Creators can also use their NFT as a profile picture (pfp) or background on their Linktree. Much like Twitter’s verified NFT pfp feature, verified NFT pfps on Linktree will be displayed in a hexagonal frame to distinguish them from regular profile images. There will be a verification badge at the bottom of the creator’s Linktree in the background. The platform states that this feature is powered by OpenSea and MetaMask.

Linktree is also introducing the NFT lock feature that allows creators to lock their links using smart contract addresses. Only visitors who own NFTs from a particular collection released by the creator can unlock the link by adding their wallet to prove ownership. Linktree says that this feature allows creators to simplify the distribution of profits.

“Web3 and the power of blockchain provide exciting ways for creators to monetize their passion and build their community. As the creators ecosystem emerges in this new version of the Internet “Linktree is excited to provide a home for creators to aggregate their digital assets and showcase what’s important to them,” said Alex Zaccaria, Co-Founder and CEO of Linktree.

Linktree follows other Web2 companies in entering the Web3 space with plans for NFT features. Spotify has been seeking Web3 talent and recently made its foray into the metaverse on Roblox. It has also started testing a feature that will allow artists to promote their NFTs. Last week, Instagram announced that it is testing its new NFT feature with a select group of US-based creators and collectors.

Today’s announcement follows Linktree’s recent raise of $110 million in March, which valued the company at $1.3 billion. The platform boasts over 1.2 billion monthly views and is used by more than 24 million creators, artists and brands globally, including Gary Vaynerchuk, Dua Lipa, HBO and many others.
