KB Home (NYSE: KBH) has launched a metaverse-based community homebuilder experience on Decentraland. The leading US homebuilder’s metaverse technology will allow visitors to personalise virtual model homes.

The company is joining the metaverse race to gain the attention of the next generation of homebuyers by inspiring them with innovative technologies. This is not the first company to offer users an opportunity to design virtual homes and communities in the metaverse.

In October 2022, Hometopia teamed up with virtual real estate and metaverse company EveryRealm to launch a metaverse home design game on Roblox. Hometopia allows users to build their ideal homes and communities in 3D virtual worlds.

However, it is the first national homebuilder to launch this type of experience, which is also linked to its real-life business.

In November, The Home Depot filed 24 web3 trademark applications indicating plans to launch a virtual home improvement service in the metaverse.

KB Home’s metaverse community homebuilder platform features a welcome pavilion and three architecturally distinct model homes with features that encourage users to explore and engage with the model homes.

There is also a virtual host ready to greet and educate visitors about the benefits of building a house with KB Home in the physical world. The metaverse home community also features technologies that enable visitors to personalise virtual homes based on exterior styles (contemporary, Spanish, farmhouse and craftsman architecture) as well as, interiors with different types of flooring, cabinets, countertop, faucets, tile and lighting.

“KB Home has a long-standing history of groundbreaking innovation. Today, we’re creating opportunities with an eye toward the future, so next-gen homebuyers can experience a new KB Home community virtually,” said Jeffrey Mezger, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of KB Home.

“We know consumers are increasingly immersing themselves and spending more time in virtual spaces. KB Home’s metaverse community is all about discovery and creation and provides a captivating setting for homebuyers to explore what truly sets us apart – innovative design, personalization and partnership.”

KB Home’s Decentraland community was designed by Tokens.com subsidiary’s metaverse company Metaverse Group.

Lorne Sugarman, CEO of Metaverse Group commented: “By developing the first-ever new-home community in the metaverse, as well as technology for their customers to personalize the virtual homes they tour, we created an immersive experience that distinguishes KB Home within the homebuilding industry and reinforces their commitment to innovation and digital leadership.”
