Quick take:

  • Students of 21K School will soon be able to sell their artwork and creative content on the NFT marketplace.
  • They can also earn reward points in the form of the school’s native digital coins.
  • The school is also launching a blockchain-based solution to identify the accomplishments of students and teachers.

India’s first online-only school has launched an NFT marketplace to mark its transition from Web2 to Web3. Located in Bengaluru, 21K School has nearly 3,500 students enrolled from over 400 cities across India and more than 35 countries.

Students of 21K School will soon be able to sell their artwork, music, books, podcasts and videos on the NFT marketplace.

To gamify their learning journey, students can also earn rewards in the form of the school’s native 21K coins for activities such as timely submission of assignments, assessments, and examination marks. The coins can be redeemed for scholarships.

Rewards will also be provided to each student based on views on their class videos, assessment scores and feedback by the school. Parents can also earn 21K coins for their involvement in their children’s learning journey.

The gamification is driven by the school’s artificial intelligence-enabled Learning Management System, which aims to create deeper engagements with students and encourage to do their best for tasks given.

The school claims that its Learn-to-Earn model is the first of its kind in the world. Students can invite their friends to be part of the school’s gamified learning journey and build the ecosystem.

Furthermore, 21K School is launching a blockchain-based solution to identify marksheets and profiles of students and teachers along with their accomplishments.

As the NFT craze has impacted several industries, 21K School wants to equip its students with the knowledge to “drive technology-led entrepreneurship” in the future.

“We are the world’s first school to transition into Web 3.0. At 21K School, we are immensely proud to reimagine education with emerging technologies like Blockchain, Metaverse, NFTs, and more to instil learning, thinking, and creativity in the DNA of our students. We are the world’s first Web 3.0 school to be implementing an NFT Marketplace, so children can have the opportunity to understand how cutting-edge technology can help them turn their creativity into financial empowerment,” said Santosh Kumar, co-founder and CEO of 21K School.

Founded in 2020, 21K School offers children aged 3-18 three curriculums of study: Indian, American, and British. It has recently raised a $5 million Series A funding round from Ronnie Screwvala, co-Founder and Chairman of Indian online education company, upGrad.

The school aims to disrupt the traditional K12 school system by offering flexible schooling for students regardless of location or timezone.
