Gucci is collaborating with animated celeb creator and vinyl toymaker Superplastic for its second NFT drop, named SUPERGUCCI.

SUPERGUCCI is a two-part series of super-limited NFTs co-created by Gucci’s creative direction Alessandro Michele and digital artists Janky & Guggimon of Superplastic. The first release available to buy from Feb 1 on Gucci Vault and Superplastic’s website.

The NFT series includes ten unique NFTs, each incorporating classic Gucci patterns and comes with an exclusive 8-inch tall white ceramic SUPERGUCCI SuperJanky sculpture, handcrafted by Gucci’s ceramicists in Italy.

While the exact designs of the first release are still under wraps, Gucci hinted that the NFTs will feature the famous SuperJanky figure “within ten different whimsical scenarios inspired by Gucci Aria,” a fashion film by renowned directed by Floria Sigismondi showcasing Gucci’s F/W 2021 collection of the same name, designed in collaboration with Balenciaga.

The Gucci Aria film was released as an NFT last year, and was sold via Christie’s auction for a final bid price of $25,000. Gucci’s other ventures in the metaverse include a virtual Gucci Garden experience in May 2021 on online game platform Roblox, where users can buy and sell virtual items.

A Gucci bag on Roblox was sold for 350,000 Robux (approximately $4,115), costing more than the retail price of the physical bag in real life.

In Oct 2021, Superplastic raised a $20 million Series A funding round, with investors such as Google Ventures, Galaxy Digital, LINE Friends along with celebrities like Jared Leto and Justin TImberlake.

Kicking off today, Superplastic’s latest NFT collection, HEADTRIPZ, is made in collaboration with artists, rappers and celebrities Paris Hilton, Iann Dior, OG Slick, Ricardo Cavolo and more. Previous big-name collaborators include Gorillaz, J. Balvin, Rico Nasty, Fortnite.

Superplastic has also recently announced a collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club, dropping soon.
