FreshCut will leverage the new funding to bring its Web3 community-focused content platform to market. The startup is focused on bridging gaming and Web3 by enabling creators to publish high-quality, short-form content that incorporates its create-and-earn and engage-and-earn models.
Creators on FreshCut can earn the native FreshCut community token by uploading their content to the platform, while gaming fans can earn tokens by engaging with the latest clips from their favourite creators.
Fans can expect to find gaming and esports content from Super Smash Bros, Warzone, League of Legends, Street Fighter and Valorant. FreshCut is also partnering with new and upcoming Web3 games and content creators like Brycent, Chief Pat, and Mystic7 to provide a curated content experience for fans.
FreshCut was founded by three former Twitch execs, James Kuk, Ernie Le, and Ben Stueck. The startup’s development team came from companies including Twitch, Xbox, Reddit, Sony, and has deep experience in the creator economy, video gaming, esports, social and crypto industries.
“Demand for short-form content has grown exponentially, largely driven by a generational shift in attention and consumer habits. At the same time, there’s a growing desire for creators and fans to be rewarded for their contributions to the community and platform more appropriately and genuinely,” said FreshCut CEO James Kuk. “The FreshCut team and I are driven to build a platform that delivers a highly entertaining, curated content experience while also delivering long overdue value back to short-form gaming fans and creators.”
Using Web3 principles, FreshCut aims to serve as a bridge between creators and their fans, helping them to unlock the value in their relationship. The company says that most of the value of the gaming market is captured by gaming studios, Web2 platforms running ads, live events, and the top 0.1% of gaming professionals.
As more consumers spend time in digital space, FreshCut is looking to help gaming creators capture a bigger market share in the industry.
