Borderless cryptocurrency financial platform Gluwa and its strategic partner blockchain-based fintech investment fund Gluwa Capital have both appointed former traditional finance quantitative researcher Sung Choi VP of investment and managing partner respectively.
Sung Choi first joined Gluwa as its new VP of investment in January to help grow Gluwa Capital’s investment portfolio.
With its crypto wallet, payment tools, non-custodial exchange and investment products, Gluwa aims to build financial inclusion by making valued currency, credit or investment opportunities more accessible to anybody in the world. It won the Inclusive Fintech 50 competition last year.
The company has recently launched its NFT collection which will be distributed to Gluwa users over the coming months for free.

As VP of investment at Gluwa, Choi oversees both debt financing and private equity investments spanning from deal sourcing to execution. He is also working closely with the platform’s product managers to deliver an array of investment products.
In addition to that, Choi was recently appointed Gluwa Capital’s managing partner this month and is serving both roles concurrently.
He started his career in finance as a data scientist at global investments company BNY Mellon before moving on to quantitative research and portfolio manager roles at Mellon.
Prior to his move to Gluwa, Choi worked on blockchain thematic equity strategy at Newton Investment Management Group. He has over eight years of fixed income and equity quantitative research and portfolio management experience under his belt.
This news is the latest in a trend of traditional finance talents taking up new leadership roles on blockchain-based platforms.
Yesterday, blockchain veteran Lory Kehoe announced that he has joined Coinbase as Director of NFT success. Kehoe was Director of Digital Assets & Blockchain at BNY Mellon.
