Fidelity International has launched a metaverse experience to provide financial education to the digital age. The global investment management company announced the Decentraland-based Fidelity International Campus on Tuesday.

The company said the new experience aims to “offer a fun and engaging experience for users to learn more about investing and financial planning through interactive games,  galleries, and experiences such as The Game of Life, Social Mobility Gallery, and the Discover Fidelity building.”

The goal of the education hub is to teach users the importance of financial planning, money management and investing. The announcement comes despite fears that the metaverse adoption may be slowing amid recent steps taken by leading players like Disney, Tencent and Microsoft. All these tech giants have recently laid off staff from their metaverse divisions.

Fidelity International’s decision to launch a metaverse experience comes nearly a year after its parent, Fidelity Investments launched a metaverse experience to onboard young investors.

Fidelity International Campus also comes with exclusive Decentraland wearables and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which users will be able to unlock as they explore the gamified learning experience.

According to the announcement, The Game of Life allows users to simulate real-life financial scenarios, enabling them to improve their financial decision-making.

Commenting on the announcement, Emmanuelle Pecenicic, Head of Digital Propositions and Partnerships, Asia Pacific ex-Japan,  Fidelity International said: “With awareness and interest in the metaverse continuing to increase, the Fidelity International Campus provides access to practical financial knowledge to a  wide audience, especially to younger generations who are highly engaged within Web3 technology.”

According to Pecenicic, the Fidelity International Campus represents a new frontier in financial education. It provides “a dynamic and engaging way for users to learn about finance in the digital age,” added Pecenicic.

The experience leverages the concept of an immersive environment, “to encourage more people to improve their financial literacy, and ultimately build better financial  futures.”
