Donald Trump has announced the launch of the official “Donald Trump Digital Trading Card” collection. The former United States president was ridiculed for labelling the reveal a “Major Announcement”. The collection features artwork depicting Trump as a superhero.
In a statement released via his social media handle, Trump said: “I’m doing my first official Donald J Trump NFT collection right here and right now. They’re called Trump digital trading cards.”
“These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career! Collect all of your favorite Trump Digital Trading Cards, very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting,” he added.
The cards are available for $99 each and are specifically targeting the festive season with Trump writing: “Would make a great Christmas gift. Don’t Wait. They will be gone, I believe, very quickly!”
A blue-tick Twitter account claiming to be the voice of Republicans and Conservatives defending pro-democracy R’s also shared the announcement, which included a short video of Trump explaining to fans how to gain access to the collection.
However, some Twitter users were less impressed by the announcement with @brent858 writing: Trump’s “big” announcement being Trump superhero trading cards is just incredible. My guy has totally lost it. The Loser Energy and grift is just off the charts.
He even went on to suggest, if Trump’s decision to launch digital trading cards was in any way political, then this could make things worse for him than they were before. “Biden is winning Montana and Alaska in 2024 at this rate.”
On the other hand, Bill Press tweeted:
Victor Shi, who describes himself as the youngest Biden Delegate on Twitter wrote: “You can’t make this up. Donald Trump’s “major announcement” are digital trading cards that cost $99 each. Classic grifter and narcissist behavior. He has truly lost his mind more than I can possibly imagine. DOJ & Jack Smith, please hurry up and indict this man.”
