  • The two companies have signed a partnership to bring playable 4-legged avatars to The Sandbox.

Popular petaverse play-to-earn game NFT avatars Dogami are coming to The Sandbox. The two gaming platforms have signed an agreement to make Dogami the first playable 4-legged avatar game on The Sandbox’s metaverse.

The Sandbox is a leading digital land and metaverse game platform owned by Yat Siu’s Animoca Brands. The company has been expanding its product offering recently, including the acquisition of Australian-based motorsport gaming company Grease Monkey Games to bring Torque Burnout to its metaverse.

Before today, The Sandbox only had 4-legged non-playable characters (NPCs). Its partnership with Dogami further extends its gaming universe, improving the user experience for pet holders.

On the other hand, Dogami’s move to the leading metaverse gaming ecosystem gives it the platform it needs to kick off its next growth phase after raising $6 million in a funding round in December.

Dogami has already had a positive impact on its underlying blockchain, Tezos. The platform has witnessed a significant spike in transaction volume, which rose to 700,000 tez after Dogami launched its Generation Alpha NFTs.

The industry has embraced pet-avatar oriented characters as demonstrated by Dogami’s partnership with The Sandbox. According to the roadmap, Dogami wants its NFT holders to be able to walk with a Doagmi before the end of the year.

The platform has created a player hub within its universe called the DOGA House Skatepark, where users can engage in social activities with other Dogamers. “Together, you will discover various hidden secrets and easter eggs of the DOGAMÍ project, vision, and history,” the company wrote in the announcement.

The partnership comes with some exciting benefits for Dogamers:

  • DOGAMÍ Discord members can win five Sandbox Alpha passes
  • The Sandbox community members can win five limited-edition voxel DOGAMÍ avatars

Commenting on the partnership, Sebastien Borget, COO & Co-Founder of The Sandbox said The Sandbox team was excited to allow Dogamers to play with their pet avatars.

“We hope to expand their creative universe with our no-code Game Maker creation tool, inspiring new types of adventures and experiences alongside their virtual companion,” he said, adding that the Dogami team, will also unveil the first application of a cross-chain interoperability bridge between Tezos and Ethereum.
