Quick take:

  • Davide Matteazzi will lead the charge on Kryptomon’s “physital” wearables.
  • Matteazzi previously worked for Wrangler, Calvin Klein Jeans, Diesel, and Karl Lagerfeld Jeans.
  • NFT analyst known as “punk9059” has joined Moonbirds’ parent company, PROOF, as Director of Research.

Living NFT-powered metaverse project and blockchain game, Kryptomon, today announced that it is launching its “physital” NFT merchandise line, and has tapped Diesel’s former Merchandising Director, Davide Matteazzi, as its Chief Merchandising and Marketplace Officer to lead the charge on wearables.

Matteazzi has 15 years of experience in fashion, and especially denim brands. He began his career in 2003 as an HR employee at Diesel’s HQ before moving on to a product manager role in Diesel’s kid line in 2006. He later spent four years as a product manager for men’s bottoms at VF Corporation, followed by various senior roles at Wrangler, Calvin Klein Jeans, and back to Diesel, as well as Karl Lagerfeld Jeans.

A growing number of fashion brands have also been jumping into the metaverse, as seen at the first metaverse fashion week that happened in March. In the same month, Diesel announced that it was dropping its new NFT collection on Rarible, inspired by the brand’s autumn/winter 2022 fashion collection.

Kryptomon’s expansion into NFT wearables comes as digital wearables, skins, and cosmetics have become a vibrant sector for monetisation in gaming and online communities. In June, Meta unveiled its partnerships with Prada, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne for its Horizon Worlds marketplace.

Each of Kryptomon’s digital wearables is accompanied by a real-life piece or clothing that unlocks a digital item for avatars to wear within its “Kryptoverse”, which translates to an element beyond a skin or cosmetic, providing in-game advantages and bonuses as players collect pieces.

In his new role, Matteazzi will be responsible for positioning Kryptomon’s physical NFT offering as a unique blend of real-world product and digital gameplay utility.

“Digital wearables have a bright future and show a clear path for NFT longevity,” said Davide Matteazzi, Chief Merchandising & Marketplace Officer at Kryptomon. “I’m thrilled to join Kryptomon as the project brings something truly unique to the field of Metaverse gaming and can’t wait to start building their real-world and digital wearable selection.”

In other news, PROOF – the Web3 media company behind the popular NFT collection, Moonbirds – has appointed a new Director of Research, known only as the pseudonym, “punk9059” on Twitter.

“Punk9059” is known for her analysis of NFT statistics and has amassed 48,800 followers on Twitter. In her new role, “Punk9059” will combine analytics and narrative to make sense of the NFT space.

She added that the role “sits at the intersection” of work she’s done across her career, including research at an investment bank, building a start-up from 50 to 20,000 employees, professional photography, as well as crypto and NFT analysis.

PROOF recently raised $10 million from Alexis Ohanian’s VC firm, Seven Seven Six.
