Quick take:

  • CryptoPunk #4464 has sold for 2,500 ETH ($2.6 million).
  • The sale happened despite the negative market sentiment created by the crypto winter.
  • CryptoSlam data suggests no bigger single sale has happened in the last 30 days.

The crypto winter may be beginning to dissipate but it is still a major influence on NFTs. On Tuesday, NFT sales registered the lowest volume on Ethereum in 30 days, with OpenSea posting the largest decline from the previous day.

Yet, in the midst of the current crypto crash, one lucky trader managed to pull out a multi-million dollar NFT sale.

CryptoPunk #4464 sold for a whopping 2,500 ETH (~$2.6 million), becoming the largest single sale in the last 30 days according to CryptoSlam data.

The CryptoPunks NFT collection is comprised of 10,000 Punks. Punk #4464 is one of the 24 apes contained in the collection. The Punk features a vape pen, eye mask, and a durag.

The sale puts Punk #4464 fourth alongside four other Cryptopunks in the collections’ most expensive sales in ETH.

CryptoPunk #5822 bought by Deepak Thapliyal, CEO of blockchain in February 2022 for 8,000 ETH is the most expensive ever, followed in second place by Punk #3100 and #7804, both of which sold for 4,200 ETH. The three of them are alien-based CryptoPunks and are the rarest in the entire collection.

Although Punk #4464 is tied with four others in fourth in terms of ETH selling price, the dollar value differs significantly due to the fluctuation of the ETH price over the last 12 months.

Overall, Punk #4464 is technically sixth in the all-time sale value.

The CryptoPunks NFT collection is one of the most popular alongside Bored Ape Yacht Club. In March Yuga Labs the creators of BAYC acquired the collection from Larva Labs extending their dominance in the NFT collectibles space.

Since then, the Punks floor price has relative stagnated relative to its close rival, bar last month when it monetarily spiked to 260 ETH before falling back to its average level of 75 ETH according to a Dune Analytics dashboard prepared by @sealaunch.
