Singer, songwriter and popstar Charli XCX will be performing a show in the metaverse on the Roblox platform. From today, players on Roblox can enter the Superstar Galaxy and compete for a chance to join Charli XCX’s avatar on stage during the concert.
Sponsored by Samsung, the Superstar Galaxy allows players to live their popstar dreams by performing, dancing and creating in the virtual world. After entering the galaxy, users will be equipped with their own virtual Galaxy Z Flip3 smartphone. Users can even use the virtual smartphone to snap an in-game selfie of their avatars.
Along the way, users receive messages from Charli XCX to guide them in exploring the galaxy and navigating the experience.
The galaxy includes a space station where users can discover nearby asteroids and play unique mini-games, build and perform on their own custom stage, or visit stages created by other users. To earn Star Power and climb the in-game leaderboards for the opportunity to join Charli XCX during the concert finale, users will need to complete challenges found around the Superstar Galaxy.
New content, games and challenges will be dropping every Friday leading up to the virtual concert on Jun 17. These include fan-favourite Charli XCX songs for users to perform, new in-game zones and props to decorate their own stage.
Fans can also unlock exclusive pop-icon inspired items to customise their avatars and create their own popstar persona.
“Roblox and Samsung feel like the perfect duo to extend the interaction I have with my fans,” said Charli XCX. “The partnership is one that will give my community the access and ability to experience me in ways they previously have not been able to, which is extremely exciting!”
This is the most recent example of Samsung’s approach to creating experiences in the metaverse. The company launched its metaverse named Samsung 837X in January, which is modelled after the Samsung Flagship store in New York City.
Samsung 837X is an online experiential playground for users to go on quests, earn collectible NFT badges and exclusive, limited-supply collections of Samsung Decentraland wearables to customize their avatars.
Samsung Superstar Galaxy is accessible in the United States, Brazil, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom and other select countries worldwide.
